Pete Gwynne practices complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts and has extensive experience with commercial arbitration. His additional experience as a former General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer provides a unique perspective and added value to clients.

About

Pete joined Perry Law after acting as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for a Registered Investment Adviser in Manhattan. Prior to that, he served as a trial attorney in the National Courts Section of the Civil Division of the Department of Justice, representing the United States in various matters before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Court of Federal Claims and the Court of International Trade. During his tenure, Pete argued two cases before the Federal Circuit and acted as lead counsel for the Government in nine cases before the Court of Federal Claims, including successfully defending the Government’s position in a bid protest proceeding involving a government contract with a value in excess of $1 billion.

Pete also practiced complex commercial litigation at two major international law firms and worked as senior counsel at a large international aircraft manufacturer. In private practice, Pete represented an international pharmaceutical company during all phases of an arbitration related to the effect of a merger on the company’s multi-billion-dollar distribution rights of one of its products. He also represented an international insurer in litigation in New York and North Carolina state courts regarding the application of investment banking insurance policies in connection with events surrounding the collapse of the Enron Corporation and WorldCom, Inc.

A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Pete served as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy prior to attending law school. As a naval aviator, he piloted H-60 SEAHAWK helicopters and was designated as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor who taught other naval aviators graduate-level combat search and rescue techniques, including operational use of night vision goggles in flight.
